2010-9-10 Food Waste Decomposer Visit
A visit to food waste treatment facilities for the C&I sectors was arranged on 10 September 2010.  The participation rate of the visit was overwhelming.  There were some 60 participants coming from different C&I sectors.  We first visited the food court of the Festival Walk to learn about the source separation of food waste being practised, followed by a visit to the food waste decomposer installed at the car park.  Then we went to the Vegetable Marketing Organization in Cheung Sha Wan to find out how the unsold vegetables were recycled and turned into liquid fertilizers.  We made the last stop at the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) where the features and mechanism of its food waste decomposers were introduced by the AA representatives.
